Thinking of my mum today. Olive was born in north Thinking of my mum today. Olive was born in north London in 1914, qualified as a nurse in the 1930s, met my dad in 1939 and they married a few days before war was declared. Five children later (I am the fifth) and various house moves led to her final years in Bournemouth. Mum died of cancer in 1976. I was 17 then and it all seems a long time ago. This photo is from a family wedding in 1953. I still repeat many of her humorous phrases, mostly picked up from vintage radio comedy shows. ‘Can I do you now sir?’ Gone, but never forgotten.
