Alongside my colleague Kelly Wood – MU Live Performance Official – and photographer Jonathan Stewart, I attended the launch of the London Venues Task Force report this morning at Regent Sound in Denmark Street. The Report presents a number of recommendations which aim to protect London’s grassroots music venues. This has been written and researched by The Mayor of London’s Music Venues Taskforce, which consists of Mark Davyd (Music Venue Trust), Andrew Russell (Senior Planning Officer, Greater London Authority), Dave Webster (Musicians’ Union National Organiser, Live Performance), Auro Foxcroft (Village Underground), Jeff Horton (100 Club), Paul Broadhurst (Senior Cultural Policy Officer, GLA) and Tom Kiehl (Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs, UK Music). The BBC reported on this event and I recommend the full GLA press release for more details. The Report itself is available from the MU website.
